Vocation

- Connecting Faith with Daily Life

Picture
For more on the definition of vocation, go to Wartburg College's definition by clicking the above image.
What is Vocation?  Our Divine Calling
"If God in Christ saves us by faith alone, setting us free from doing works in order to achieve our salvation, God does this so that our works can be directed where they are needed - our neighbors.  But, where will this happen?  In a monastery?  Not likely.  But in our families and communities?  Yes.  In our school and work?  Yes.  In government and business?  Yes.  In our many roles in daily life?  Yes.  Precisely there.  And so Luther took that word 'vocation,' meaning divine calling, and applied it to all Christians in all their roles and places of responsibility."
 - Marc Kolden from Christian's Calling in the World pg. 8

Spiritual Gifts Inventories

"The Spiritual Gifts Assessment helps individuals identify their God-given gifts for living faithfully as Christian disciples day by day and find meaningful ways to use their gifts in connection with others through the community of faith. The process helps people understand the nature of spiritual gifts and ways to enhance the effectiveness of their gifts by linking together with others. Please be aware that this online assessment is designed to introduce you to the gifts of the Spirit. To more deeply understand your spiritual giftedness, we recommend that you explore your gifts in a group setting such as your local church. Enjoy!" - from the United Methodist Church website
